Student safety is our top priority.

The Transportation department strives to promote safe and efficient transportation for eligible Mount Markham students. All bus drivers are trained to operate our buses, adhere to traffic laws, conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and maintain student order and safety.  We ask that parents remind their students that bus rules and good behavior are important to everyone’s safety while on the bus.

Bus Rules

1. Obey the driver. The driver is responsible for safety and order on the bus.

2. In cases where it is necessary to cross a highway when entering or leaving a bus, do so at least ten feet in front of the bus-upon appropriate signal from the driver.

3. You must be at least fifteen feet away from the bus and either off the road or on a sidewalk before it can leave.

4. Do not extend any part of your body out of the window at any time.

5. Take your seat upon entering the bus and remain seated.

6. Absolutely no smoking, foul language, fighting, eating or fooling around.

7. Be ready when the bus arrives.

A violation of these rules will result in disciplinary action.

Please note that the expectation is to be ready as the bus arrives. In addition, we would like to remind everyone that our policy for leaving students under the age of ten (fourth grade) at a stop without a parent/guardian home and visable is strictly prohibited.

Transfinder & Stopfinder

We recently adopted a new bus tracking system called Transfinder. This system allows parents/guardians to see in real-time where your students’ bus is and the arrival time at their stop, both for pick up and drop offs. Transfinder allows up to three contacts per student.

Stopfinder, created by Transfinder, is a free app that allows parents and guardians to accurately track their children’s school bus in real-time. The app is a two-way communication tool, providing parents with an easy way to communicate quickly with district transportation officials and receive notifications instantly.

Stopfinder is secure and only for registered users. An invitation email will be sent from our Transportation department for families to download and log in to the app.
