FAQs

  • Many colleges require students to have their high schools send their official transcripts when they apply. To request your official transcript to be sent to a college, please contact the guidance office. Current students can stop into the guidance office to fill out a Transcript Request Form.

Graduates of Mount Markham High School can email Mrs. Palmer. In the email, please include the graduate's name (including maiden name if the graduate is now married), a contact number, and the name and address of the college they would like it sent to.

  • There are three levels of Honor Roll. Students are placed based on the marking period average listed at the bottom of their report card. In addition to needing a particular marking period average, eligible students also need to pass all of their classes with a 65% or higher for that marking period.

In the marking period average, classes that meet every other day count half as much as classes that meet every day. Honor Roll is based on the following schedule:

High Honor Roll 95% and higher
    Honor Roll 90 - 94.999%
    Commended Honor Roll 85 - 89.999%

  • Honor Hall is a less restrictive study hall where students have more privileges including being able to talk quietly with others and signing out to see a teacher or the library without a pre-signed pass. Students' schedules are changed to/from Study Hall or Honor Hall at the end of each marking period based on their marking period average. Just like with Honor Roll, eligible students also need to pass all of their classes with a minimum grade of 65% for that particular marking period.

Students who pass all of their classes and meet the following grade requirement for the previous marking period are scheduled for Honor Hall instead of Study Hall.

Students in grades 9-11 who are not enrolled in an AP course 88% or higher
Students in grades 10-11 who are enrolled in an AP course 85% or higher
    Seniors 85% or higher
  • The course selection process begins in January or February.  In this process, the Course of Study book is presented in freshman seminar or English classes.  Within the next several weeks, each student meets individually with the school counselor to choose courses for the following school year.  During these individual meetings, the student's career goals are discussed as well as the courses he/she has already taken as a way of guiding the courses that are selected for the following school year.  Once courses are selected, students are asked to sign the course selection sheet, as well as their parent/guardian and then the principal.

  • All students are encouraged to carefully choose their courses for the following year. The master schedule is built each year based on the courses selected. However, there are times when students would like to change their schedule at the beginning of the school year. Schedule changes may be honored from the first day of class through the fifth day of the semester. Students who would like a schedule change are asked to visit to the guidance office to discuss with the school counselor.

If the proposed schedule change is possible, the school counselor will give the student an add/drop. The slip will then need to be signed by the student's parent/guardian, teacher(s) being affected by the change, principal, and student's case manager (if applicable). The student is asked to return the completed form to the school counselor within the first five days of the semester. Students are asked to remain in their scheduled classes until the schedule changes have been made.

  • In September or October of each school year, each senior, junior, and freshman meets individually with Mr. Parow to go over a variety of topics related to college.  Below are the information sheets that are given to each student to use as a reference.

  • The NCAA Eligibility Center helps students become eligible to play Division I or II sports in college. Any student interested in playing Division I or II sports is encouraged to let their coach know and register through the eligibility site.

Students will also need to send their high school transcript(s) from each of the high schools they attended to the Eligibility Center.

It is important for students to familiarize themselves with the Mount Markham Approved Courses. These are the courses that students will have to choose from that will count toward their NCAA eligibility. Students can keep track of their progress with NCAA Division I and II worksheets.
