Graduation Requirements
In addition to the graduation requirement table below, the following are requirements to graduate at Mount Markham.
Community Service: Students who graduate from Mount Markham are required to provide verification for 20 hours of community service which can begin during the summer after their sophomore year. Community service verification forms can be found at this link: Community Service Verification Form. Hard copies can also be picked up in the main office.
Freshman Seminar (upon availability): The goal is to schedule every freshman to take Freshman Seminar. However, if Freshman Seminar does not fit into a student's schedule in their freshman year, they will not be required to take the course.
Minimum Credits per Year: Each student is required to take a minimum of 5.5 credits per school year.
Honors and Mastery Diplomas
Honors Diploma: To earn a Regents Diploma with Honors or Regents with Advanced Designation Diploma with Honors, students' required Regents exams must average together to be a 90.0 or higher.
Regents with Advanced Designation with Mastery in Math and/or Science: To earn this diploma, students must earn a Regents score of 85% or higher for three math and/or science Regents exams. For example, a student who earns a score of 85% or higher on the Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II Regents exam will earn a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation. Likewise, a student who earns a score of 85 or higher on three of the following four Regents exams will earn a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation: Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics.
It is possible to earn a Regents Diploma with Advanced Design with Honors with Mastery in Math and Science.
Students who plan on going directly into a 4-year college after high school are encouraged to earn a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.
