Congratulations to Kim Trevisani and Carrie Nelson for receiving a Staff Shout-Out! Thank you for everything you do to support the success of our students.
Today was our French Club students' last day in London. They met up with a local guide, Tim, for a bus/walking tour and saw Big Ben, Westminster, Buckingham Palace, SoHo, and Covent Garden. Of course they couldn't leave London without trying delicious fish and chips from The Nag's Head pub.
To celebrate Music In Our Schools month, the high school concert band hosted the first annual "Instrument Masterclass." Students of all instruments hosted beginner music lessons for high school staff. Although it was loud and a little chaotic, teachers and students had a blast learning the ins and outs of music!
The Mount Markham Music Department is collecting canned food items in partnership with Feed Our Vets for Music In Our Schools Month. See the article below for important information if you would like to support the department's cause.

The French Club students have arrived in London!
After landing, they met their guide, Nathy, who took them to Notting Hill to visit Portabello Market Road for some London-style shopping and lunch. They rode the Underground (many students' first time on the subway) and saw many of the cities major sites from the top of the London Eye. They tried typical London fare at the Greyhound Pub before absolutely collapsing into bed.
Special thank you to those involved in helping to fund the visit to the London Eye which was paid for by the Arts in Education grant (Mt Markham Representative, Marissa Winkler and Heather McCutcheon, Herkimer BOCES Arts in Education Coordinator).
The French Club students have already learned flexibility while traveling! After their flight was canceled in Albany, Mr Ed Schutz came back to the airport (he was already back at school) to take them from Alb to JFK. He was truly the hero of the day!
Special thanks to Mr. Zampetti for coming to send us off and Mr Keith Williams and his crew for clearing the school out. Bon voyage!
The Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for Saturday March 23 is cancelled due to the weather.

Mrs. Raymond’s Animal Science class at the high school has been busy learning about the different digestive systems in animals. Students have been focusing on four different types of systems: Monogastric, Pseudo-Ruminant, Ruminant and Avian.
In class last week, students had the opportunity to create a marble run that focused on an Avian digestive track. They had to use five different types of materials and successfully pass a marble through the tract, starting at the beak and moving all the way out the vent. While presenting to their peers, students had to be able to explain what each part of the track was responsible for as the marble passed through.
Mrs. Weiss' second-grade class celebrated the culmination of their Ancient Greek Civilizations unit with a robotic chariot race! Students designed and built mini chariots using cardboard, k-cups, pipe cleaners, paper clips, fasteners, and other objects. Their chariots were also required to safely hold a Charioteer and easily be attached to a Beebot. The students then programmed the BeeBot to navigate their chariot through a course.
