Mrs. Raymond’s Animal Science class at the high school has been busy learning about the different digestive systems in animals. Students have been focusing on four different types of systems: Monogastric, Pseudo-Ruminant, Ruminant and Avian. In class last week, students had the opportunity to create a marble run that focused on an Avian digestive track. They had to use five different types of materials and successfully pass a marble through the tract, starting at the beak and moving all the way out the vent. While presenting to their peers, students had to be able to explain what each part of the track was responsible for as the marble passed through.
