Students in Mrs. Brower's Science Fiction class and Ms. Robinson's Astronomy class have been engaging in cross-curricular collaboration over the last few weeks. They started with the Eduprotocol Smart Start of Cardboard Boats, a variation of the Cardboard Arcade Smart Start. This allowed them to start working on their communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. On Friday, the two classes went to Beyond Reality where they were able to put these skills into action through one of two adventures, either a science-fiction themed adventure or a space station themed adventure. These two classes will continue their cross-curricular collaboration as the year progresses. Thank you to Beyond Reality for welcoming our students and allowing them to collaborate with topics that relate to these classes!

The following students were recognized for doing an exceptional job of consistently demonstrating responsibility.

- Brook Champagne
- Mia Walker
- Shaun Jones
- Jenna Kocienda
- Hayley Lee
- Emma Johnson

- Connor Bienvenue
Great job!

The Mount Markham High School Drama Club is excited to present their upcoming performance of "The Play That Goes Wrong" on Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th!
Both performances are at 7:00 pm in the Mount Markham High School Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and $25 for family.
“Break a leg!” takes on a whole new meaning for a woefully misguided troupe of players at the Cornley University Society’s opening night performance of The Murder at Haversham Manor. An unconscious leading lady, a corpse who can’t play dead, a ruffled detective, and a word-mangling butler (among others) must battle against technical gaffes, forgotten lines and sabotaging scenery in a quest to arrive all in one piece at the final curtain call. Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, all mayhem, this 1920s whodunit is disastrously delightful.
On November 18th, Mount Markham High School faculty and staff celebrated the upcoming retirement of Mary Greene with a surprise luncheon. Staff brought in food and homemade treats, including a cake as it was also Mary's birthday! We wish Mary well in her retirement!
On Tuesday, the Mount Markham Senior Class had the opportunity to visit the New York State Museum in Albany! Students had a great day touring the museum, and they had the chance to visit the Observation Deck of the Corning Tower to get a bird's eye view of the city and learn about some of the local landmarks.
Congratulations to Rachel Harris and MacKenzie Roth for an amazing performance at Area All-State on November 19th!
Mr. Mosny's English 10 Honors class went on a tour of Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute as part of a unit where students make observations of art pieces and use those observations to interpret the meaning of the piece. During this trip, students were able to view Thomas Cole's Voyage of Life mural series, which they are using for a class assignment analyzing visual symbolism and a model Regents Task 3 analysis essay.
REMINDER: Mount Markham CSD will be on recess, November 23-27, in celebration of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving came early for Mount Markham High School! Our PBIS team took the time to express their gratitude for the students and staff that make Mount Markham High School a great place to be.
Last Thursday, 40 students underwent Sources of Strength Peer Leader training with University of Rochester staff members. They learned about our suicide prevention program, discussed the strengths they have in their lives to get through challenging times and helped to plan activities and schoolwide campaigns for the upcoming school year.
From October 24 - 28, Mount Markham High School students and staff participated in Red Ribbon Week! The 2022 theme was "Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free," and activities were coordinated through Heather Maley, Prevention Services Coordinator with the Catholic Charities of Herkimer County/Herkimer County Prevention Council.
Students in Mrs. Moore's health classes held a poster contest. Each student was very creative and expressed ways to celebrate the theme. Students also signed the Red Ribbon Pledge: to grow up safe, healthy and drug free by understanding the dangers of drug use and abuse, to respect themselves and be drug free and to spread the word to family and friends about the importance of being healthy and drug free.
SADD provided encouraging announcements each morning and students also sported fun mustaches provided by SADD with the declaration "I 'mustache' you not to do drugs." On Wednesday, all staff and students were encouraged to wear RED to demonstrate their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
Mount Markham CSD is currently searching for a F/T Night Cleaner and substitute cleaners. See below for additional information regarding these positions. Call Chris Haar at (315) 822-2844 with any questions you may have or stop by the District Office for additional information.

On Wednesday, chief meteorologist at WKTV Weather, Bill Kardas, came in to talk to Ms. Robinson's Earth Science students, as they have just begun their Meteorology unit. Bill talked to the classes about different types of severe weather, how such phenomena occur and how they impact us in Central New York. Additionally, Bill discussed how one can become a meteorologist and described his role at WKTV. Thank you to Connected Community Schools for helping set up this experience for our students!
We're almost back to school! Check out our arrival and dismissal times for each school building.
