Jacob Kiefer and Delaney Stephan receive New York State Seal of Biliteracy Award

The World Language Department at Mount Markham CSD is pleased to announce that Jacob Kiefer and Delaney Stephan have completed the requirements to earn the New York State Seal of Biliteracy. This honor is only earned by students who demonstrate an intermediate-high level of competency in two languages. Delaney successfully communicated in both English and French and Jacob successfully communicated in both English and Spanish.

Both students completed a five-minute presentation on a topic of their choosing, participated in interviews about their personal lives and their projects, submitted article reviews, and wrote essays discussing a cultural aspect related to their project topic. Their work was reviewed by the Committee on the Seal of Biliteracy who deemed them deserving of this high honor. Both students will be presented with medals to wear at Graduation and a special seal will be placed on their high school diplomas.

 

Jacob is the son of Joshua Kiefer of West Winfield and Tiffany Owen of Leonardsville. Jacob will attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute after graduation where he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. Delaney is the daughter of Michelle and Chris Stephan of Frankfort. Delaney will attend Utica University after graduation where she plans to major in Physical Education.
