Samantha Massey has been selected as the Mt. Markham Optimist Club 8th Grade Youth of the Month for June. She is the daughter of Michael and Melanie Massey of West Winfield, NY.
While in Middle School, Samantha has been involved in band, chorus, Junior FFA, and Student Council, where she once served as the head of the club. She also serves as the President and Social Hour advisor of the National Junior Honor Society. Samantha has consistently achieved High Honor Roll status every quarter and has received several MMTA Awards.
In athletics, she has participated in modified softball, varsity wrestling, and varsity soccer, where she served as team captain.
Outside of school, Samantha is involved in club wrestling, DPL Soccer, ECNL Soccer, and ODP Soccer. In her community, she has served on a Veterans committee, assisted with an NC Haul Drive, and participated in a soccer bake sale. Samantha’s future plans include attending either Penn State, Iowa, or Cornell to major in Nutrition and continue her wrestling career. She would like to coach at the collegiate level after earning her bachelor’s degree.
