Sophia Gibson has been selected as the Mt. Markham Optimist Club 8th Grade Youth of the Month for March. Sophia is the daughter of William and Samantha Gibson of Clayville, NY.
During her time in middle school, Sophia participated in modified field hockey and modified volleyball, serving as a captain for both the first and last games of her field hockey season. She also helped her field hockey team deliver cancer care bags to individuals undergoing chemotherapy.
In addition to her sports involvement, Sophia is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the Junior FFA Club. As part of FFA, she has taken part in fundraisers and has cared for classroom pets. Sophia is enrolled in the advanced AFNR Ag class and has received two MMTA awards. She has consistently made the honor roll throughout her middle school years.
Outside of school, Sophia attends religious education classes at St. Joseph’s the Worker Church. Her future plans include attending a local school and pursuing a career as a cosmetologist.
