The community asked, and Mount Markham CSD listened and delivered; the district now has a Special Patrol Officer (SPO) in each school building.
Our newest SPO, Officer Sean Kozma, is stationed at Mount Markham Elementary School. The other SPOs, Officers Dave Kirkpatrick and Joe Pedulla, are stationed at the high school and middle school respectively.
Officer Sean Kozma previously worked as a corrections officer at NYSDOCCS Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, NY before retiring in 2016. Prior to becoming a corrections officer, Officer Kozma studied criminal justice at Herkimer County Community College.
Officer Kozma is looking forward to serving the Mount Markham Central School District and the community.
“The staff and children have been a joy to work for,” Kozma said. “The days fly by and I really am glad to be here.”
Outside of work, Officer Sean Kozma enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and watching his children’s sporting events.
The addition of our third SPO enhances the security of each school building and the safety of our staff and students.
