Shooting Club wins second place at final competition 2026

The Mount Markham Shooting Clays Club has successfully wrapped up its second season, culminating in an exciting final competition held at Rochester Brooks Field.

The event featured twelve fields of High School shooters from across the state. Teams varied in size, with some bringing as many as thirty students, while others fielded only three. The day was filled with friendly competition and camaraderie, and our students once again did an excellent job representing our community.

Kash Mickle took third place in the junior varsity boys' division, while Jillian Maine claimed the top spot in the junior varsity girls' division and John Terns brought home second place in the state for varsity boys. Additionally, the varsity team finished the season in second place in the conference, just behind Waverly, which proved to be a powerhouse on the field Saturday.

The team would like to extend its gratitude to the community for their ongoing support since the club’s inception last year, with sponsors from nearly every business in town, including Sitx and Stones, Jennison Fuels, Precisionmatics, Lincoln Davies, Kylie’s Diner, Rifanburg Lawn and Landscapes, The Top Gun Group, NAPA, KC’s Hardware, Valley View Cattle, American Roofing and Sheet Metal, The Mount Markham Foundation, and many others. A special thanks is given to Dave Cooley for sharing his decades of experience and serving as an exceptional coach. His love of the sport and desire to usher in the next generation of shooters have helped shape the success of this burgeoning team.

With their contributions, our students have had the opportunity to develop lifelong skills, a healthy respect for firearms, and relationships they might not have built otherwise.
