Recommended Mentoring Schedule
Meetings:
Daily Meetings (5-20 minutes) September
Weekly Meetings (30 minutes) September
Informal Meetings (2 monthly) October- June
Observations/Coaching:
New teachers observe others at same grade or curriculum area. September, October, January, March (Coaching)
Mentor Teacher- Observes and coaches new teacher. September and January- (2) others on as need basis
Celebrations: December and June
Mentoring Activities (May include but are not limited to):

Modeling instruction for new teacher.

Observing new teacher's instruction.

Instructional planning with new teacher. (unit and lesson design)

Orienting new teacher to school culture.

Share classroom management techniques.

Development of strategies for individual student behavior.

Facilitate meeting and interaction with colleagues.

Assist new teacher with self -evaluations.

Regulations regarding mainstreaming and IEP students.
